Man arrested at scene of commercial break and enter downtown

A 42-year-old man is in custody after police mobilized the Emergency Response Team for a commercial break and enter alarm downtown Sunday morning.

Police say the alarm sounded shortly after 4 a.m. at a business in the 1400 block of Third Avenue in Prince George.

Officers were on the scene quickly and a man initially attempted to flee on foot, but ran back into the business.

Due to safety concerns for our officers, the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team were called in to assist. At approximately 7:30 a.m. the Prince George man was arrested with the assistance of a police dog service Team.  He was transported to hospital for treatment of minor wounds and has been transported back to the detachment.  He will be held in custody overnight and will appear in court by teleconferencing on Monday April 13.

Portions of Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue and Brunswick Street were closed to public for approximately five hours.

The investigation is continuing.
