A 41-year-old Prince George man is facing charges following an early morning break and enter Wednesday.
Police were called out at about 2:40 a.m. to a report of a break and enter to a business on the 600 block of Central Street West. The initial report indicated that a man smashed a window of a retail store and fled with stolen merchandise in a shopping cart.
Frontline officers attended the area and located the suspect. The 41-year-old Prince George man was arrested without incident. Investigators recovered almost $4,000 worth of goods in the suspect’s possession, in the shopping cart or in a nearby dumpster.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved the following Criminal Code charges against Lionel William Tanguay:
- Break and enter with intent
- Theft under $5,000
- Mischief under $5,000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Disguise with intent
- Fail to comply with release order (2 counts)
Tanguay was held in custody and will appear in court by teleconference later today.
