Only 20 per cent of British Columbians surveyed believe their community provides adequate support to help people affected by dementia. Prince George residents can help the Alzheimer Society of B.C. change this by registering a team in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, taking place on Sunday, May 3, at YMCA of Northern BC.
The Walk is the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s flagship fundraiser. It provides a meaningful way for Prince George residents to celebrate and remember people in their lives who have been affected by dementia and raise critical funds and awareness within the community.
“The dementia journey can be isolating for people living with the disease as well as their caregivers, which is why seeing so many members of the community come together year after year is so special,” said Maribeth Friesen who is the Regional Manager for the Northern and Interior Regions at the Alzheimer Society of B.C. “By participating in the Walk, our amazing teams show people living with dementia that they are not alone on their journey.”
Funds raised at the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s will help the Alzheimer Society of B.C. provide support and education programs that directly benefit Prince George residents.
