In recognition of International Women’s Day (IWD), Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond announced that a local service organization and a Prince George support group will be receiving a financial donation from the proceeds of last year’s fundraising breakfast.
The Ramada Plaza Prince George co-sponsors the event every year and proceeds from the 2019 event will go to the following:
- To support the work of the Prince George chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a service organization dedicated to helping those in need. St. Vincent de Paul’s services include providing food hampers for families, daily meals, a safe and friendly place to socialize at a drop-in centre, and running a local thrift store, in addition to other special projects.
- The PG Parkinson’s Support Group, a volunteer-led support group providing those with Parkinson’s, and their families, an opportunity to meet in an understanding, supportive and friendly environment on a regular basis.
“I was honoured to take part in last year’s International Women’s Day breakfast, which was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the truly inspirational women in our community,” said Bernie Goold, President of St. Vincent de Paul. “I would like extend my sincere thanks to Shirley Bond and the Ramada Hotel for the donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. These funds will go a long way to contribute to our work and improve the lives of so many here in our local community.”
“Last year’s breakfast was such a fantastic event and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to be involved,” said Dr. Jacqueline Pettersen. “Events like the International Women’s Day breakfast are so vital in building and supporting the community and the fact that proceeds from the event are going to support local charities make it all the more meaningful. Thank you to Shirley Bond and the Ramada Plaza Prince George for both the donation being made today to the PG Parkinson’s Support Group, and for their continued commitment to our community.”
“It is truly a pleasure to be a part of this event year after year,” said Ramada Plaza Prince George food and beverage manager Tiffany Cranmer. “We take our role in the community very seriously, and the International Women’s Day breakfast is such a great opportunity to invest in our city and its inspirational women.
“Every year we hold an International Women’s Day breakfast to recognize some of the inspirational women who live and contribute in our community and beyond,” said Bond. “It is wonderful to be able to provide these donations on behalf of everyone who attended last year’s breakfast and because of our continued partnership with the Ramada.”
This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at the Ramada Plaza Prince George. Doors open at 7:00am and breakfast will be served at 7:30am. Tickets go on sale today and are $30 each. You can purchase your tickets through Laura in the Ramada Sales Office (250) 561-5685.
