Miracle Theatre’s professional production of the comedy, The Birds and the Bees is about to open.  First performance is February 12. The show hits the stage at ArtSpace above Books and Company, which has undergone what has become an annual transformation to a theatre venue.

The Birds and the Bees by playwright Mark Crawford has become the most produced Canadian play over the last two years. To offer this hit comedy to Prince George audiences, Miracle Theatre’s cast has come from across Canada to Prince George to work with Director Ted Price.

Following a national call for submissions last September, Producer Anne Laughlin contracted a strong cast.  Frances Flanagan from Vancouver plays Gail, the beekeeper.  Frances is one of Vancouver’s more notable performers with credits on stages like Vancouver’s Arts Club and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.  She also has a long list of TV and Film credits that include:  CBC, ABC, NBC, FOX, MGM, Alliance, Disney and Hallmark.

Gail’s almost 40, separated, daughter is played by Dana Fradkin from Toronto.  Dana is an actor, writer and opera director.

Wally MacKinnon from Fredericton plays Earl the next door farmer, a user of insecticides who is on his endless quest for the perfect woman.   In his 30+ year career, Wally has performed in major theatres right across the country.

The young researcher preparing his thesis on Gail’s bees is played by Daniel Bristol. Daniel is a recent graduate of Studio 58 and is based in Vancouver but originally from Vancouver Island.

All proceeds will be donated by Miracle Theatre to the “Children of Prince George Fund”, under the trusteeship of the Prince George Community Foundation.  That Fund is a new Endowment Fund for local charities established with the $84,000 donated by Miracle Theatre’s from their 2019 production of “Halfway There.

Performances are from February 12th to March 4 nightly at 8pm except for Mondays.  On Sundays there is both a 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. performance.  Tickets are available at Books & Company or by calling 250-563-6637.    To catch this show, get your tickets now as performances are selling out quickly.

You’ll have a great night out and be helping our city’s children.
