City crews are at the scene of a water main break at Sixth Avenue and Victoria Street in downtown Prince George. The water main, which is about 15cm in diameter and built out of cast iron, was installed in 1956, but is not connected to the water main at Sixth and Vancouver, which broke early this morning.
Traffic on Victoria Street will not be affected by the repair operation, but 6th Avenue is closed to traffic. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes.
As part of repair operations, some buildings in the adjacent area will have water service temporarily suspended at around 8 a.m. tomorrow morning (January 16).
