If you are looking for things to do indoors and away from the cold, consider some of these free or affordable activities at civic facilities this week:
Get active at a local indoor walking program
Pack up the stroller and/ or grab your friends to head over to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena or the CN Centre.
The CN Centre offers daily walking from 9:00am to 5:00pm (9:00am to 11:00am on Cougars game days) around the heated concourse during fall and winter. Note, some closures may occur while staff prepare for larger events.
You can find the schedule here.
Looking for a walking venue downtown? The Rolling Mix Concrete Arena offers a walking program from 8:00am to 3:00pm from Monday to Friday. Head to this destination over lunchtime or get active while watching a local program on-ice. Note: although it is not as cold in their venue as it is outside, make sure to bring a jacket and mitts.
If you prefer a weekend activity, rent skates and head to public skating at one of two arenas. View the public skating schedule.
Other options you may want to consider include trying the Northern Sport Centre track or the Pine Centre Mall walking program.
Exercise the mind, play a board game, attend an event, or rent a movie at the Prince George Public Library
The PG Public Library is a community hub for free events and gatherings. Gather your friends and play a game of chess on the large board in the Library (Bob Harkins branch) or borrow the game to take home.
You’ll also find a variety of events for all ages and hobbies at http://www.pgpl.ca/events. Some upcoming events at the Library include:
- Storytime, Dad & Me Storytime, or Reading Buddies (see the above link for the schedule). Don’t want to get out of your pajamas? Drop by Pajama Storytime from 6:00pm to 6:30pm at the Bob Harkins branch tonight.
- Tens to Teens Gaming Hour on Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Bob Harkins branch.
- Legotime on Mondays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at the Nechako branch in the Hart.
With your Library card, you can take a free online course, access many print or online collections, including eBooks, movies, and audio books, and use the internet and computer stations in-branch.
In some cases, you do not need to leave home to access these collections. Just grab your Library card and visit their website or download an app. Some online collections and apps include hoopla, InstantFlix, Libby, and Library2Go. View more info.
