Snowfall warning for Yellowhead highway into Alberta

If you’re heading to Alberta for New Year’s, you probably should have left yesterday.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Yellowhead Highway between Tete Jaune Cache and the Alberta border.

Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres is expected.

A stalled frontal system is spreading snow to Yellowhead region. The snow will last through Tuesday and taper off Tuesday night. Total snowfall accumulation of 20 to 40 cm is expected by Wednesday morning.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
