On Sunday, Harblas Sandhu and members of the Cariboo Gur Sikh Temple Society in Quesnel presented the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation a cheque for $6,500.
Sean Kehler, regional board member, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and Vice President, Commercial Financial Services, BC North for RBC, and Daryl Petsul, Health Services Administrator, Quesnel were on hand for this presentation. These were funds raised to support the area of greatest need at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel.
Sandhu explained that funding was generated to honour 550 Years of Sikhism and the birth of Guru Nanak. This is an investment in healthcare for the community as a whole.
“We appreciate when the generosity of local donations are able to make a difference in the community where these funds were generated. That’s what Spirit of the North prides itself in doing — connecting local donations, to local needs,” said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “We will work closely with Daryl and Northern Health to determine what their area of greatest need is and this donation will go 100 per cent to that equipment. We are truly grateful to the Sikh community for choosing to make a difference in health care.”
