A woman is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car Wednesday evening.
Police say the accident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on Patricia Boulevard, just east of Victoria Street.
The woman was hit by a Honda Civic and the drive of the Civic stayed at the scene.
Investigators spoke to several witnesses and remained on scene gathering evidence for most of the evening. The vehicle was seized and will be examined. The pedestrian was wearing all black clothing and attempting to cross between intersections at the time of the collision. It was dark and raining heavily at the time. Speed is not believed to be a factor.
The investigation is continuing.
The Prince George RCMP and at other agencies have been actively engaged with pedestrians and drivers this month, reminding all road users about pedestrian safety during the darker portion of the year. Both pedestrians and drivers need to look for each other and exercise caution when using our roads.
