Former Syrian refugees Nael and Rose Tohme are now Canadian citizens.
The couple and their family arrived in Prince George three years ago and have made Canada, and Prince George, their home.
They were congratulated on becoming Canadian citizens by Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies MP Bob Zimmer.
“I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Nael and Rose Tohme on becoming Canadian citizens,” he said in a statement. “It has been a privilege to get to know the couple since their arrival in Prince George in 2016 as Syrian refugees sponsored by Westwood Mennonite Brethren Church.
“Over the past three years they have fully embraced everything that our region has to offer and have become active in their church and community, as well as assisting other newcomers to Canada.
“I once again congratulate Nael and Rose, and all those who took part in the citizenship ceremony at Southridge Elementary School in Prince George.”
