Wanted man located hiding on roof downtown

Johnny James Boys

There are no heights to which the Mounties will not go to get their man.

Just after noon Wednesday, members of the Prince George RCMP’s Downtown Safety Unit attended a second floor apartment on the 1400 block of Third Avenue in an attempt to locate 26-year-old Johnny James Boys, who was wanted on arrest warrants to attend court to answer to several charges related to break and enter and weapons possession.

Shortly after knocking on the apartment door and announcing “police,” Boys was seen fleeing from the exterior window of the apartment onto an adjacent roof, according to police.  Officers soon followed suit.  The suspect was located hiding in a ventilation shaft on another roof and was arrested.

During the search incidental to arrest, Boys was found in possession of a significant amount of cash, cocaine and methamphetamine.

On September 11, an arrest warrant was issued for 26 year old Johnny James Boys of Prince George after he failed to attend court to answer to several charges related to break and enter and weapons possession.  The charges stems from investigations that began on two separate dates in June 2019.  The charges are as follows:

  • Carry a concealed weapon
  • Careless handling of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Transferring a weapon while unauthorized
  • Fail to report a found firearm
  • Possess a firearm without a licence
  • Break, enter and commit an indictable offence

Boys will be held in custody overnight and attend court on Thursday.  Further charges related to the arrest will be considered.
