McBride RCMP investigate attempted abduction but discover no criminal intent

McBride RCMP are investigating a possible abduction attempt Tuesday.

At about 8:30 a.m. a student from the local secondary school was headed to school when she was approached by a motorist. The man told the student that school had been cancelled and offered her a ride home. The student did not go with the man and continued to walk to school. Once there, it was reported to school staff, who then called the police.

A description of the vehicle and the suspect was provided to police and a person of interest has been identified and spoken too and police do not believe there was any criminal intent.

“RCMP are asking parents and guardians to talk to your children about what they should do if approached by a stranger and to never accept anything from someone they do not know,” said Const. Neal Kalnin McBride RCMP.
