Two Williams Lake men charged with first degree murder

Two men have been charged with first degree murder after a body found in the Fraser River near Williams Lake last month was positively identified.

The body, pulled from the Fraser River August 27, has been identified as that of Branton Regner, who was reported missing following an incident on the Rudy Johnson Bridge on Friday, August 9,.

Jayson Gilbert and Michael Drynock have been charged with the first degree murder of Regner. Gilbert and Drynock also face one charge each of attempted murder and kidnapping, in connection to the incident at the bridge.

“The rapid progress of the arrests and multiple charges involving these two accused are a direct result of the collaborative investigative effort between Williams Lake RCMP and the North District Major Crime,” said Inspector Jeff Pelley, OIC Williams Lake Detachment. “These investigations are ongoing and continue to be a priority within our community.”
