Airport firefighter training will be taking place at the Prince George Airport over the next few weeks.
At times, smoke may be seen coming from the airport grounds. Fires are lit and quickly extinguished in a controlled, self-contained environment, and the public is not at risk. Live fire training is a mandatory component of airport operations training. Upcoming dates for training include:
Friday Sept 13: 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Monday Sept 16: 7:00am to 9:00am & 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Monday Sept 23: 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Thursday Sept 26: 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Friday Sept 27: 1:30pm to 3:00pm
On Sunday, September 15, Ellis Road – the main road to the airport terminal – will be milled in preparation for paving. Traffic will be restricted to one lane, and drivers can expect a rough surface. Weather permitting, paving will occur starting Wednesday, September 18. Service roads Altimeter Road and Beacon Road, as well as the extension to the airport’s long-term parking lot will also be paved as part of the project. Motorists should drive slowly and watch for signage and workers.
Prince George Airport thanks the public for their patience, while we improve our facilities to better serve our community.
