The Prince George Cougars were shutout on the scoresheet Sunday and in the win column this weekend, after a 7-0 loss to the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.

The Cougars were winless in their three exhibition games against Kamloops, Vancouver, and Kelowna. They’ll search for their first pre-season win next week when they head up to Dawson Creek for two games against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Sunday afternoon, the Rockets power-play was red-hot, as they scored on each of their first four power-play opportunities. The Cougars’ penalty-kill did turn it around late, killing-off the final five penalties against.

Kelowna scored three times in the first period and tacked on another four goals in the second period for a comfortable lead after two periods. Kyle Crosbie had a pair of goals for the home team and five others chipped in with singles. Cole Schwebius picked up the win and the shutout for the Rockets, turning aside all 21 shots he faced.

Tyler Brennan, making his 2019 pre-season debut, was tagged with the loss in the Cougars’ crease. Brennan stopped 35 of 42 shots.
