A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Burns Lake Thursday.
Burns Lake RCMP say the girl was sitting on a bench in Radley Beach around 11:30 p.m., when a man sat down beside her.
The man put his hand on her back and when she got up to leave, the man tried to stop her from leaving. She was able to run from the area and immediately called the police.
Burns Lake officers attended the area however could not locate the man.
The man has been described as heavy-set, 5’5 to 5’10 tall, brown eyes, short dark hair on the sides with longer “shaggier” dark hair on the top of his head. The victim felt he may be First Nations. He was seen wearing a red checkered plaid sweater, black shirt, and dark jeans.
“”This is a priority investigation and we hope the public can provide some assistance in identifying this man”,” said S/Sgt Saunna Lewis, NCO i/c Burns Lake RCMP.
