Downtown stabbing connected to drug trade, say police

A man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in downtown Prince George late Sunday.

Police say the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. near Third Avenue and George Street.

When police arrived they found an adult male suffering from apparent stab wounds.  Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived.  The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.  A portion of George Street was closed for a period of time as evidence was gathered.  The suspect was not located and is believed to have fled the area on a bike before emergency services were called.

Investigators believe this was a targeted attack involving the drug trade.  The victim has been uncooperative with police.

Although no arrests have yet been made, the investigation is continuing.  The victim is expected to recover.
