Cache of stolen property worth $50K located and seized by police

A traffic stop in Prince George Friday led to the discovery of a cache of stolen items.

The Prince George RCMP were called by a concerned citizen who believed he saw a stolen vehicle being driven near Highway 16 and Sykes Road.

Officers attended the area and located the stolen vehicle at a residential property off Highway 16.  The vehicle was occupied by a 57-year-old Prince George man who was arrested and held pending investigation.

Police officers observed several items on the property they believed to have been stolen.  A search warrant was obtained and executed at the property.  In addition to the stolen vehicle, police seized hundreds of other items, including tools, vehicle parts, pet supplies, lawn mowers, a generator and vehicle tires and rims. Five flat-deck tow truck loads as well as a cargo van full of property was taken from the scene with an estimated value of more than $50,000.

Investigators are attempting to locate the rightful owners of all the stolen property.  This is expected to take some time.
