UPDATE: Four-year-old boy missing near Mackenzie has been found safe

UPDATE: Four-year-old George Hazard-Benoit, who was missing for close to 30 hours near Mackenzie, has been found. He is safe and has been reunited with his family. A police dog team found the boy, who had gone missing while on a trip with his family to go berry picking near Lions Lake.

 

A four-year-old boy has gone missing from a berry-picking expedition with his family south of in the Lions Lake area south Mackenze Saturday.

The boy was with his parents berry picking when he became separated from them at 12:36 p.m.

George, the four-year-old child was last seen wearing a bright blue coat with a hood, a black shirt with glow in the dark lettering and dark navy pants. He is three feet tall and has short dark auburn hair. 

Police and Search and Rescue from Mackenzie, Prince George, Fort St Joh, Fort St James and Chetwynd are actively looking for the missing boy. A police service dog from Prince George is on scene and RCMP air support has been called to assist.

Anyone who wishes to help in the search are asked to report to the command centre set up at Lions Lake Provincial Park. A search and rescue coordinator is there to assist.
