Vanderhoof woman charged following stabbing

An 18-year-old Vanderhoof woman is facing several charges following a stabbing in the city Wednesday.

Police were called out at about 4 p.m. to the incident at a residence in the 1400-block of Third Avenue.

When police arrived they found a man who had been stabbed.  A lone female suspect fled before emergency services were called.  The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, a suspect was identified.  Patrols were made throughout the downtown core.  At approximately 5:30 p.m., the suspect was observed walking near the corner of Sixth Avenue and Dominion Street.  When officers tried to arrest her, she attempted to flee on foot.  She was caught a short distance later and taken into custody.

Madison Rose Patrick has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting arrest.

Patrick was released on a recognizance for court on September 11.  The victim and suspect are known to each other.  This was a targeted act as a result of a disagreement, say police.
