Tapestry Singers move to Trinity Downtown

After 12 happy and successful years under the umbrella of School District 57, the District 57 Tapestry Singers have made the transition into the community and will now be known simply as Tapestry Singers.

Their new home will be Trinity Downtown, a church well known for welcoming and valuing community arts groups. Tapestry is thrilled to have a central location as its home base and as a community choir, can now invite all youth to join their choirs; private, public, online, and home school students.

Together with the encouragement and support of Rev. Dr. Bob K. Fillier and local arts organizations and individuals, Tapestry Singers begins this chapter of their history with confidence.

Tapestry Singers will need some specific items to begin in September, many of which may be donated new or second-hand. Tapestry also welcomes financial donations from individuals and businesses to cover the costs of items that need to be purchased.

List of Material Needs:

❖ a laptop

❖ portable sound system

a 5-disc cd player and good speakers

❖ two 2-level trolleys

whiteboards one on wheels and large, classroom size, and one as a stand for the front foyer of rehearsal space

overhead projector and trolley

black choral music stands – (6)

List of Financial Needs:

acoustic piano – $3358.88 (moving, the first tuning, and a 5-year warranty)

choral risers and storage cart – $8553.00 (WENGER – new)

Tapestry Singers. is a performance group that strives toward a high level of artistic excellence in choral performance along with personal and social growth. Their community is diverse and inclusive; all are affirmed. The mission of Tapestry Singers is to create a joyful and beautiful sound, to strive for choral excellence, and to foster a life-long love of music and music making. The 2019-2020 choral season will mark Tapestry Singers. 13th Anniversary. Junior Singers include Grade 4-7 students and the SENIOR Singers include Grade 7-12 students.

Tapestry Singers will have a booth at Active Living Mart on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8. They invite all youth interested in Tapestry Singers to stop by and say “hello” at Booth #3. The choir community welcomes new members.
