Stolen property recovered from local residence

A tip from a concerned citizen resulted in the RCMP recovering several stolen items.

The RCMP received the call on Wednesday from a resident who reportedly saw an all terrain vehicle being hidden behind an old mattress in the backyard of a residence in the 1300 block of Carney Street.

Officers attended the address and located an ATV that had been stolen a day earlier from another residence in the city. Further checks of the yard and shed on the property revealed other stolen property including bicycles, power and hand tools, and three rifles.

A Prince George man, well-known to police, was arrested at scene and held on outstanding warrants. Prince George RCMP ask anyone who may have been a victim of theft and not reported the incident, to call the Prince George RCMP Detachment and provide details of their loss including any available serial numbers or descriptors. Police would like to reunite the stolen items with their rightful owners.

The Prince George RCMP would also like to remind homeowners to remain vigilant and ensure their yards and sheds are locked and not attractive to thieves. Tips to prevent theft from your property can be provided by the Prince George RCMP Community Policing Unit.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

If anyone has information to provide the police in relation this investigation or any other investigation, they are encouraged to call the Prince George RCMP Detachment at (250) 561-3300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8744.
