RCMP have released a composite sketch of a man they want to question as they investigate the double homicide of 23-year-old Lucas Fowler and 24-year-old Chynna Deese south of Liard Hot Springs July 14 or 15.

The man was seen speaking with Fowler on Highway 97 on the evening of Sunday, July 14. The bodies of Fowler and Deese were found Monday, July 15.

RCMP have also confirmed that Fowler and Deese were both shot and that a 1986 blue Chevrolet van with Alberta licence plates was owned by Fowler and was being used by the couple to explore northern B.C.

The man seen talking to Fowler is described as:

  • Caucasian,
  • with darker skin and dark hair,
  • he is shorter than Lucas, who is 6’ 3,
  • with a possible beard and/or glasses.

The man may be associated to an older model Jeep Cherokee with a black stripe on the hood and a black light/bull bar with small, covered lights. He is believed to have been travelling southbound.

Investigators are working through a number of tips and tasks, including interviews with individuals who saw or spoke with the couple, analyzing forensic and digital evidence along with reviewing hours of CCTV and dashcam video footage.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP Detachment at  250-774-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
