A 50-year-old Prince George man is facing several charges following a series of crashes Saturday afternoon.
Police were called out at about 3:30 p.m. to reports of several vehicle collisions relating to a full-size pickup truck being driven on Ospika Boulevard and Massey Drive. Members of the public provided updates to police as officers were en route.
The vehicle came to a rest near the intersection of Massey Drive and Opie Crescent after both front wheels deflated. The adult male driver fled on foot. Members of the public led officers to the driver, at which time he was detained as part of the investigation.
The man underwent a 12-step evaluation conducted by a drug recognition expert. Following the evaluation, the expert believed the driver was impaired by a drug. A urine sample was also obtained for analysis.
Further investigation found that the vehicle was uninsured and displaying licence plates that belonged to another vehicle. The driver was also prohibited from driving at the time of the incidents.
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear for court at a later date. He was issued a 24-hour suspension, along with a violation ticket and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. No injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing.
