Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a man who apparently followed a runner in the Heritage area of the city.
On Tuesday June 25 the Prince George RCMP given an e-mail that was sent to the City of Prince George. The e-mail described a suspicious stranger involved incident that occurred earlier in the week. Officers were able to track down the author of the e-mail.
She said that at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, she was running along a path between Coreless Crescent and Claxton Avenue when a man began running to catch up to her. The woman sped up just before the man was able to catch her. She continued to run to safety and the man soon stopped his pursuit. Although no physical contact was had, the man’s motives are not known.
Investigators are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the man. Anyone with information about the man or with external video surveillance in the area, are urged to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca(English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
The Prince George RCMP would like to remind the public that the police are not able to take reports via e-mail. Reporting a crime to police must be done via the telephone or in person and should be done as soon as possible.
