Give Hope Wings –Northwest Expedition will take off this summer raising funds for flights for medical care access through for Hope Air.
The ambitious expedition will take volunteer pilots and flight crew on a journey 12,000 kilometres across British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and circumnavigating Alaska. The expedition aims to raise enough funds to provide 1,000 flights for Canadians in financial need who must travel far from home for medical care. As volunteer pilots and flight crew begin their three week journey around British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Alaska and stop in Prince George for a community celebration on the evening of June 15.
Hosted by the Prince George Airport, the community is invited to meet the Give Hope Wings pilots and crew and wish them well on their journey. Those in attendance will also get a chance to meet Hope Air patients, including Sara-Marie a single-mother who flew to Vancouver and Kolten for surgery, a trip that would have been difficult and painful without Hope Air.
All of the volunteer pilots and flight crew participating in the expedition are fundraising for Hope Air. The generous gifts of supporters will allow low-income patients in small and rural communities to access health care. The flights that Hope Air provides removes the burden of cost and long distance road travel from families facing illness and allows them to focus instead on what is important – their health.
