Passengers using the Prince George Airport (YXS) will need to come and go using the departures area doors while construction outside of the arrivals area doors requires their closure for about 10 days.
Construction starting tomorrow (June 11) on the exterior of the arrivals area will include repaving the sidewalk to new meet new accessibility standards, and preliminary work on a garden area.
“We are excited to see this project move forward. It’s one more step in making our terminal accessible to all passengers.” says Prince George Airport Authority President and CEO John Gibson, in a news release.
Departing passengers will largely be unaffected. Arriving passengers should collect their luggage as usual, but will need to exit using the doors near the check‐in counters.
This construction is on the non‐secure side of the airport, and no disruptions in flight operations are anticipated. The Prince George Airport apologizes for the inconvenience, and asks for passengers’ patience during the brief closure.
Other improvements currently underway at Prince George Airport include the repaving of Runway 01/19, expansion and paving of the long‐term parking lot, replacement of the public address system and installation of a departure lounge restaurant.
