Prince George Ribfest is less than one month away and local companies are pitching in to make the three-day event a great time.
The event, which will take place at Pacific Western Brewing June-21, is presented by the Nechako Rotary Club.
Canadian Tire Prince George was quick to come onboard as the event’s full-rack sponsor, and their very own Selen Alpay will sit among the judging panel in the 2019 Prince George Ribfest Awards happening at 4 p.m. on Saturday June 22.
Thanks to Treasure Cove Casino, all patrons 19 years of age and older will be able to attend the evening portion of the event free of charge.
“From 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night we are open only to those who are 19 years of age and older,” said Kyle Sampson, Prince George Ribfest Event Manager and manager of Northern BC for Pacific Western Brewing. “We initially set out to charge a $5 cover during the evening events, but thanks to our friends at Treasure Cove Casino, they’ve stepped in to take care of everyone’s cover charge making the event free to all! We are so appreciative of all the sponsors who have come on board to support this year’s event.”
“We see this as a fantastic opportunity to give back and to show our community how grateful we are to do business here in Prince George,” said Amanda Chandler, Marketing Manager at Treasure Cove Casino. “We have signed on to support Prince George Ribfest and the Nechako Rotary Club, and with that means we will be eliminating the $5 cover charge for evening events on Friday and Saturday night.”
Ribfest patrons will be offered safe rides home, free of charge all weekend long, both day and night thanks to a new partnership forged with Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George. The rides are free of charge, but donations are encouraged to go towards BBBSPG and their programming in our community.
“We will be offering shuttle services all day every day by donation for those who need a safe ride home from the event,” said Tim Bennett, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George. “We are excited to partner with both organizations to assure patrons are given every opportunity to find a safe option to end their night positively. The funds we raise from this weekend of events will be a huge help towards the wide range of programs we offer right here in Prince George.”
The weekend will be filled with all the ingredients needed to cook up the right Ribfest event. Both Friday and Saturday will be divided into family-friendly / all-ages hours, and 19+ adult only hours. With Sunday being entirely all ages. Rib Fans can expect to experience Canada’s best ‘ribbers,’ some of northern B.C.’s most sought after food truck vendors, local live entertainment, and delicious PWB products throughout the weekend.
Additionally, Sunday will include a farmers’-market style shopping area on the property.
Patrons can expect to see some of the best local entertainment Prince George has to offer. Friday evening will feature more of a country vibe, while Saturday will be more focused on hits and rock.
“This is hands-down going to be one of Prince George’s most fun events – we look forward to seeing everyone here at PWB for Prince George Ribfest this June,” said Sampson.
