In these days of heightened awareness of possible wildfires, don’t be alarmed if you see some black smoke east of the city Wednesday.
Fire training is taking place at the Prince George Airport on Wednesday May 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Locals are reminded these fires pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas. These fires are held in self-contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and are part of ongoing recurrent fire training and certification.
These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has, in the past, caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to local agencies.
