Lejac fire mostly contained, Richter fire out of control

The Lejac fire near Fraser Lake, which was sparked May 11, is pretty well contained.

The fire is now listed at 236 hectares in size and, according to the BC Wildfire Service, is 70 per cent guarded, 70 per cent contained with 30 per cent of being guarded by a natural fuel break.

The BC Wildfire Service has 56 firefighters on scene with two helicopters and 10 peices of heavy equipment.

Meanwhile the Richter wildfire near Osoyoos has grown to 400 hectares in size. The fire is considered out of control at this time. Crews are on site and being assisted by two helicopters.
