A man in a wheelchair was killed and another seriously injured in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning.
Just after midnight a Prince George RCMP officer on patrol came across what appeared to be an accident on Victoria Street between 15th and 17th avenues.
The officer located two men suffering from injuries and a severely damaged electric powered wheelchair and bicycle. The two men were transported to hospital for treatment.
The 48-year-old occupant of the wheelchair subsequently as a result of injuries sustained. The 56-year-old bicycle rider is recovering from injuries and expected to survive.
This portion of Victoria Street was closed to facilitate the gathering of evidence. Investigators believe man in the wheelchair and cyclist were struck by a northbound vehicle that did not stop.
Through investigation, officers believe that the suspect’s vehicle is a dark coloured 2012 or 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This vehicle will have extensive damage to the passenger side. Anyone with information about this vehicle or that locates this vehicle, is asked to contact police immediately.
The Prince George RCMP have many resources assisting with this investigation. Investigators are urging the driver to do the right thing and turn himself /herself in to police.
