Salmon Valley squatters arrested

Squatters at a Salmon Valley residence have been arrested and, following a search of the residence, several firearms were seized.

Police were called out Friday afternoon to the property after receiving a report that someone was staying in the residence.

Officers discovered that people were squatting in the residence and refusing to open the door.  Officers entered the residence and removed the lone adult male occupant.  As a result of observations made by officers while in the residence, a search warrant was obtained.

The subsequent search revealed two loaded firearms, a pistol and a long gun, an unloaded long gun, brass knuckles, ammunition, and small amounts of cocaine, psilocybin, and heroin/fentanyl.  The man was arrested for firearms offences.

A woman believed to be associated to the property was located in a vehicle nearby and arrested.

Charges of careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a loaded firearm have been laid against 27-year-old Ryan John Moore of Prince George:

Moore has been released and is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on June 5.  The woman was released without charges.
