Comments are being accepted until July 5, 2019, on a discussion paper released as part of a comprehensive timber supply review for the Lakes Timber Supply Area.
The public are invited to attend an open house to learn more at the Lakeside Multiplex Babine/Decker room, 110 Flogum Dr. in Burns Lake, on Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Public feedback on the discussion paper will be considered by the chief forester before setting the new allowable annual cut.
The discussion paper provides the results of the timber supply analysis, including a base-case harvest forecast. It also describes the geography, natural resources and current forest management practices in the Lakes Timber Supply Area.
The Lakes Timber Supply Area covers approximately 1.5 million hectares in north-central B.C., with about 363,194 hectares available for timber harvesting.
