Work will get underway in summer 2019 to resurface two sections of Highway 16, improving safety and efficiency for people travelling through the area.
“This section of Highway 16 is in need of repair, and I know it has been a concern for residents who drive this route,” said Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, in a news release. “The work being done will significantly improve the drive through Burns Lake and make travelling between Endako and Fort Fraser safer.”
The project involves paving three kilometres of Highway 16 through the Burns Lake downtown core, from Babine Road to Kerr Road. Additionally, approximately 30 kilometres of Highway 16 will be paved from Endako to the Fort Fraser overhead bridge.
The work is scheduled to be complete in fall 2019. Drivers are advised to use caution when travelling through the construction zone and obey all traffic control personnel and signage.
Peter’s Bros. Construction from Penticton was awarded the $7.4-million contract.
