Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb is recovering after suffering a heart attack last week.
According to a statement posted on the city website, Cobb admitted himself into hospital in the early morning of April 10. He was transferred to Kelowna General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a heart attack and successfully underwent treatment.
“Mayor Cobb is recovering well and is expected to be back in Williams Lake next week, where he will be recovering for the next several weeks,” reads the statement. “We ask that the mayor’s privacy and that of his family is respected during this time and any questions, comments or support be directed to City Hall.”
Cobb has been involved in politics for almost 40 years. He was a Williams Lake city councillor from 1980-1990, and then served two stints as mayor, from 1990 to 1996 and 2014 to present. He was the MLA for Cariboo South from 2001 to 2005.
