In support of leaders coming together for the second annual Global Meetings Industry Day, Tourism Prince George and the Prince George Conference & Civic Centre will be hosting an Ambassador’s Reception April 4.
The invite-only event acknowledges and celebrates those individuals who have selected Prince George as their premier meetings and conventions destination host city, or who have provided services for the events.
The Civic Centre hosted more than 400 events, including 14 city-wide conferences and 278 meetings in 2018. The estimated total event participation days were 129,808 and the estimated economic impact generated directly from conferences and trade shows was approximately $12 million.
“The Prince George Civic Centre is celebrating its 25th anniversary of hosting successful conferences and events in Prince George,” said Myles Tycholis, Manager, Events & Civic Centre. “Last year, conferences and trade shows accounted for almost 30 per cent of the total Civic Centre revenues. We are looking forward to increasing that number in the future.”
“The Ambassador’s Reception is an excellent way to recognize local meeting hosts and event planners that bring economic impact into the community through meetings and conventions,” says Tourism Prince George CEO Erica Hummel. “Meetings and conferences promote tourism and additional spending in the community via pre and post-event activities, and support new infrastructure investments such as hotels, restaurants, and attractions.”
