Spruce Kings take 2-0 lead in series with Chilliwack

The Prince George Spruce Kings held off a hungry Chilliwack Chiefs team on Saturday night by a 3-2 score in Game 2 of the BCHL Mainland Division Final.

Ben Poisson got the Spruce Kings on the board early on in the hockey game, burying a mistake from the Chiefs defense upstairs on Daniel Chenard. The goal came off a turnover from behind the net, right onto Poisson’s stick at the top of the crease.

The Chiefs would get that first goal of the series from Harrison Blaisdell, as he received a centering pass from Matt Holmes and put it past Logan Neaton.

In the middle frame, Max Coyle would hammer a slapshot past Chenard on the power play to give the Spruce Kings a 2-1 lead.

Prince George would go up 3-1 on a goal from Nick Poisson, as he put a rebound through the legs of the Chiefs netminder after his brother Ben put the original shot on goal. The play was started by a lengthy stretch pass from Liam Watson-Brawn and Ben split through the defense to get the shot away before Nick put away the loose puck.

Kevin Wall scored on a scramble in the second period to get the Chiefs within a goal.

In the third, Prince George would out-shoot the Chiefs by an 8-6 margin, as Logan Neaton finished with 18 saves.
