Former Northern BC film commissioner turned film producer Sara Shaak has joined the list of filmmakers in the Creative Corner section appearing at Northern FanCon this May 3-5/2019 at the CN Centre in Prince George.
Sara has built her career as an out of the box thinker, trailblazer and innovative entrepreneur who has executed on multiple successful ventures in the public and private sector throughout her career. Sara has held leadership roles in the film and television industry in Western Canada for over 20 years.
She is currently an independent film executive/Producer, and has formerly been a film commissioner for two jurisdictions in British Columbia, public relations practitioner, and an economic development specialist.
Sara was the Founder/CEO of Arrowleaf Entertainment Properties – a uniquely structured media-financing corporation based in Western Canada. Arrowleaf was able to attract significant public and private financing for productions, and was the first of its kind in Canada.
Sara is currently a partner in an Alberta based production company – Trilight Entertainment Inc. with Shayne Putzlocher (The Adventure Club, ARCHIE), and is also the President and Managing Partner of Anamorphic Media Inc. Through Anamorphic and partners (including Trilight), Sara has been a key Financier/Producer of multiple feature films including her most recent productions – COLD BROOK, 2018 (starring William Fitchner and Kim Coates) in New York State, and the recently announced 2019 project DOORMAN, 2019 (starringRuby Rose and Jean Reno), now in pre-production in Romania.
