Chong Min Lee got the Spruce Kings on the board in the opening frame, knocking home a rebound after strong work from Lucas Vanroboys and Corey Cunningham took the puck to the net.
Alex DiPaolo would tie the game for the Express at 12:50 of the first period, finding a rebound of his own to put past Logan Neaton.
In the middle frame, Ben Poisson would make a great play off the side boards to himself and found his younger brother Nick in the slot as he would make no mistake, burying the shot over the blocker hand of Kolby Matthews.
Coquitlam responded once again at 17:36 when Dallas Farrell buried the loose puck after racing to tag up on a delayed offside. It would sit at the side of the goal for him as he put it home to knot it at 2.
The Spruce Kings answered immediately as Nick Poisson’s second of the night was served up to him by a beautiful pass from Chong Min Lee at the side of the goal.
In the third period, the Spruce Kings defense locked it down, but also had some offense to contribute as well.
Layton Ahac fired a bomb home from the point at 8:40 to give the Spruce Kings a 4-2 edge, and Liam Watson-Brawn dove to block a shot and cleared the rebound down the ice into the empty net to seal the deal.
