Overtime victory gives Spruce Kings 2-0 series lead over Express

Lucas Vanroboys scored on the powerplay, in overtime, Saturday to give the Spruce Kings a 3-2 win over the Coquitlam Express and a 2-0 BCHL Mainland Division playoff series lead.

It was the first time the Spruce Kings had the lead in the game. Joshua Wildauer gave the Express at 1-0 lead in the first as he beat Logan Neaton in the Spruce Kings net. The lead held up until halfway through the third period when Chong Min Lee tied the game up.

The Express managed to back in front when Wildauer beat Neaton again with just over four minutes left in the game. The Spruce Kings pressed and Ben Brar got the equalizer at the 18:27 mark, setting up the overtime.

Neaton made 27 saves in the Spruce Kings net, while Kolby Matthews made 36 saves in the Express net.

The series now returns to Coquitlam for Games 3 and 4. Game three goes Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
