Kelsey Jewesson delivers the national anthem

Local singer Kelsey Jewesson delivered a stirring rendition of O Canada during the World Para Nordic Skiing Championships opening ceremonies Friday night at the Civic Centre.

Originally from Smithers, Kelsey moved to Prince George in her elementary school years. She is now based out of Victoria.  She is the 2016 recipient of both the Governor General’s Silver Medal and Victoria medal for academic achievement at the University of Victoria where she earned her BFA in Opera Performance

She has also earned a Theatre Arts Diploma from Grant MacEwan University, a Music Foundations Certificate from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and a Classical Music Diploma from Camosun College

She has performed in operas across British Columbia including Lucia di Lammermoor, Hansel and Gretel and The Magic Flute. 

She has performed locally with Judy Russell Productions as Irene Molloy in Hello Dolly, Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense I and II, and as Eponine in Les Miserables.
