On Friday, the YMCA of Northern BC kicked off its YMCA Strong Kids Campaign to ensure kids and families who have a financial need are able to access YMCA programs and services in our communities.
This year, there is a goal of raising $60,000 for the campaign to support local children and youth to participate in YMCA camps and programs. The campaign began strong as with 100 per cent board giving and through staff payroll deduction and donations; the staff team has donated and pledged over $3,000 toward the $60,000 goal.
The YMCA is asking the community to join it in giving to the campaign. Fundraisers for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign occur throughout the year in addition to continued donations.
“I really want the community to recognize that this is something we work towards all year, we need donations every day as we support families in our community every day,” said Stephanie Deol. “We encourage individuals to continue to make donations even after our public campaign ends.”
In addition to donating, the YMCA is asking the community to register for their local YMCA MEGATHON fundraiser, presented by Brink Group. On March 9, individuals or teams can participate in fitness fun and raise funds for the campaign. Registration is online at nbc.ymca.ca.
You can donate to the YMCA by visiting ymca.ca/donate to donate to the campaign. The YMCA accepts donations to the campaign throughout the year.
