With the cold, unpredictable weather the local organizing committee has decided to move the Prince George 2019 World Para Nordic Championships opening ceremonies indoors to the Prince George Convention and Civic Centre.
The start time has also changed to 7 p.m. to accommodate the move inside. The program will remain unchanged, featuring the parade of athletes, Canadian anthem will be sung by Kelsey Jewesson, welcome to Prince George by dignitaries, traditional greeting from Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Chief Dominic Frederick, performances by Khast’an Drummers and Judy Russell Enchainement Dance Centre and the unveiling and live performance of the theme song “Know My Name” by Sage Bialuski.
The opening ceremonies with conclude with Fireworks outside in Canada Games Plaza.
This is a free, family celebration as the city welcomes the world’s top para nordic skiing athletes this Friday, February 15.
Spectators are the key to electrifying this fabulous international event and are encouraged to cheer on the athletes at all events February 16-24 at the Otway Nordic Centre. Championship details at 2019WorldParaNordic.ca
