YMCA Camp Kanannaq moves to West Lake

The YMCA of Northern BC has partnered with  Scouts’ Camp Hughes and the the result is YMCA Camp Kanannaq is moving to West Lake, its new home for summer 2019.

The new site will offer all the same great programming- canoeing, archery, swimming, wide games- with many new additions and facilities.

“We could not be more excited for this partnership,” said Stephanie Deol, manager of philanthropy, marketing and camps. “This expansion allows us to continue to work to meet the growing community need. The new site allows us to serve more children.”

YMCA Camp Kanannaq is offering a new program for children aged five and six years old, Luna. As well as a new program for 15- to 17-year-olds, the Borealis Expedition, where youth will canoe the entire Bowron Lake circuit.

The Aurora Leadership Program will operate from Prince George, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof and Fort St. John. In an effort to better meet the needs of working parents, all YMCA Camp Kanannaq programs will operate 8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Camp Registration opened Wednesday February 6. Campership financial assistance is available through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
