Drug bust at residence on Village Avenue

Prince George RCMP have executed its first search warrant under Canada’s new Cannabis Act.

On Friday February 1 members of the Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit executed the search warrant at a residence on Village Avenue. Five people were in the residence at the time of the search.  Officers located several pounds of dried cannabis, many pre-packaged bags of other cannabis products, cash and trafficking paraphernalia.

All five people have been released without charge at this time, pending further investigation and charge approval from the Federal Prosecution Service of Canada.

Other than violation tickets, this is the first enforcement action taken in Prince George under the Cannabis Act.

“The Prince George RCMP is committed to enforcement and prevention initiatives that combat the illegal possession and sale of cannabis in the community,” states the RCMP news release.
