Dustin Manz scored twice as the Prince George Spruce Kings cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Coquitlam Express 926 fans at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena Saturday.
The game was never really in doubt as the Spruce Kings built up a 5-0 lead before Logan Neaton’s shut out bid was foiled with just over five minutes left in the game.
Liam Watson-Brown opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings, notching the only goal of the opening frame. Nichola Poisson and Patrick Cozzi added two more in the middle frame. Manz potted his two early in the third while Ben Poisson added a power-play marker in the last minute of the game to round out the scoring.
Jared Power was the lone goal scorer for Coquitlam.
Neaton made 23 saves in the Spruce Kings net while Clay Stevenson stopped 32 shots at the other end.
The Spruce Kings sit second in the Mainland Division with 64 points, five behind the Chilliwack Chiefs.
