Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, the RCMP ‘exclusion zone’ blocking public and media access to the blockade on the Morice West Forest Service Road near Houston has been removed. Members of the public and media are now able to re-enter and travel on the road. The RCMP will continue their patrol of the corridor to ensure everyone’s safety.
On Monday last week, 14 were arrested as police enforced a court injunction to remove blockades on the road that were preventing work from beginning on a Coastal GasLink pipeline from Dawson Creek to Kitimat.
Also on Friday, police, Coastal Gas Link employees, and a heavy duty tow truck arrived at the Unist’ot’en bridge to remove the blockade, which the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs agreed to.
