Le Cercle des Canadiens Francais de Prince George (CCFPG) is proud to present the 34th FrancoFUN Winter Festival.
Indeed, this important cultural event will start on Friday, February 1 with a concert in collaboration with Coldsnap called “Dance up a storm”, featuring two local groups, Les Colons Biens and The French Connection and headliner bands LGS and É.T.É. These two groups will be offering a very current and dynamic vision of Quebec and Ontario traditional music. The event will take place at the Ramada ballroom at 7:30 p.m.
During the FrancoFUN Winter Festival, other cultural activities will be organized such as an art exhibit at Le Cercle, 1752 Fir Street and everyone is welcomed at its opening night on Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m.
On Monday, February 4, meet at the oval for a fun free night of skating. Students from Prince George and area will enjoy music workshops and movie days from February 4-8. These school workshops will be presented by a group of a story teller and musicians, Le Père Garneau & Les Rats d’Swomp, also from Québec and Ontario.
On Tuesday, February 5, there will be a movie night, also free, a biopic of Quebec folk singer La Bolduc who in 1930 was the first song writer and singer of her time. The movie came out in 2018 and finished as the year’s second highest grossing Canadian film. Seniors are invited to a lunch and show on Thursday Feb 7 at noon at the Prince George Chateau.
Finally, the 34th FrancoFUN Winter Festival will peak on Saturday, February 9 with the traditional Sugar Shack brunch at St. Mary’s Hall, 1088 Gillett Street, Prince George, featuring the Old Time Fiddlers and Le Père Garneau & Les Rats d’Swomp. This grand finale will be followed on the Sunday by the Downtown Winterfest.
