The weekend may have taken its toll on the Cougars, who only dressed five defencemen due to injuries. The Cougars only finished the game with 17 bodies after Ilijah Colina left the game in the first period (upper-body) and Taylor Gauthier after 40-minutes (illness).
Despite outshooting the Blazers in the first period, the Cougars went down a goal after Montana Onyebuchi scored late. Kamloops added another goal in the second period, when Brodi Stuart scored seconds after a Blazers power-play expired.
The Cougars pushed back in the third period, outshooting the Blazers 19-4. Josh Maser pulled the visitors within one goal, when he scored on the power-play with two-minutes left, but that’s as close as they would get.
The Blazers have won the first three games of the season series. The two teams meet again in Prince George for a weekend double-header on January 19-20.
